Vila Health: Interfacing and Interoperability
As Vila Health is acquiring rural hospitals, your superior has asked you, a midlevel administrator, to explore options in regard to informatics at Vila Health. You have been asked to examine whether or not the main hospital should invest in interfacing all of their current systems with the possibility of transitioning the new acquisitions to this new interfaced system.
For this assignment, create an executive summary, outlining the pros and cons of investing in interfacing the current system, including the components, infrastructure, and investment needed. Make recommendations, including whether to interface (why or why not) and whether the current, different systems at the newly acquired hospitals should be transitioned to the same system as the main VH hospital in Minneapolis, or kept the same with upgrades. Support your summary with peer-reviewed sources.
Refer to the unit studies, including the Vila Health: Information Systems Interfacing and Interoperability challenge (linked in Resources), and create an executive summary, in which you will:
Analyze the key characteristics of different HIM systems, including applications, department-specific functions, and capabilities.
Accurately identify the components, infrastructure, and investment needs for the HIM systems at each hospital.
Accurately identify the pros and cons of maintaining the current systems, interfacing the current HIM systems, or replacing all systems with a single new HIM system.
Make recommendations based on best practices in HIM, supported by current literature.
Make sure you write clearly and logically, with correct use of spelling, grammar, punctuation, and mechanics, and correctly format the paper and citations using current-edition APA style.
Be sure to review the Vila Health: Interfacing and Interoperability Scoring Guide to understand how your assignment will be graded. Submit your completed executive summary as an attachment to this assignment.
