The topic chosen for the next CLA assignment is the Importance of Values and Ethics in Development of an Organization. Several factors play a pivotal role in ensuring progress and development of an organization and values and ethics are the primary factors behind this development. Some important aspects that will be discussed in the assignment for this topic include the definition of values, their significance, working of values within an organization and role played by the leadership in erecting these values high.

To define values in the simplest manner this definition suffices the need.  According to it value is “An enduring belief that a specific mode of conduct or end-state of existence is personally or socially preferable to an opposite or converse mode of conduct or end-state of existence.” (Rokeach, 1973, p. 5)?

Keeping this definition in mind, there a number of aspects in which values can be incorporated within an organization, for example, equality, working hours, minimum wages and a lot more. In order to implement these values equally, the leadership of the organization is brought to task. It is the leadership of the country which ensures that the values designated for the organization actually stand in favor of the organization. Moreover, the implementation of values via different leadership styles lead to witnessing of quicker and faster results of the values.

In short, values play an important role in making an organization move forward and gain a competitive edge over its competitors.

Corporate social responsibility (CSR, also called corporate conscience, corporate citizenship, or responsible business) is a form of corporate self-regulation integrated into a business model.

CSR policy functions as a self-regulatory mechanism whereby a business monitors and ensures its active compliance with the spirit of the law, ethical standards, and national or international norms. With some models, a firm’s implementation of CSR goes beyond compliance and engages in “actions that appear to further some social good, beyond the interests of the firm and that which is required by law.” The aim is to increase long-term profits and shareholder trust through positive public relations and high ethical standards to reduce business and legal risk by taking responsibility for corporate actions. CSR strategies encourage the company to make a positive impact on the environment and stakeholders including consumers, employees, investors, communities, and others.

Every year, Reputation Institute, a private global consulting firm based in New York, invites about 47,000 consumers, across fifteen markets, to participate in a study that ranks the world’s one hundred most reputable companies—all multinational businesses with a global presence. One of their recent studies found that 42 percent of how people feel about a company is based on their perceptions of the firm’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).

In addition to your CLA2 report, please prepare a professional PowerPoint presentation summarizing your findings for CLA2. The presentation will consist of your major findings, analysis, and recommendations in a concise presentation of 18 slides (minimum). You should use content from your CLA2 report as material for your PowerPoint presentation. In addition, you should include learning outcomes from all your major assignments.
